DAASNY Statement on Nomination of Janet DiFiore as Chief Judge of the State Court of Appeals
District Attorney Janet DiFiore is a stellar choice for the next Chief Judge of the State Court of Appeals. Governor Cuomo is right to tap Janet for this job, because she has the kind of diverse experience that the highest court in our state needs in a chief judge. On top of her years as a prosecutor – handling everything from child abuse cases to environmental issues – she has served as a State Supreme Court Justice and a Westchester County Judge. She knows firsthand what goes into both arguing a high-profile case and deciding it based on the merits under immense scrutiny. She will be a tremendous Chief Judge. I applaud Governor Cuomo for making such a tremendous nomination, and I encourage the Senate to confirm her nomination.
